What snowshoeing on Mount Hood is really like

Snowshoes are the easiest winter sport to pick up: if you can walk, you can snowshoe. We fit you for poles and shoes at the trailhead and show you the one trick for going downhill.

The pace is gentle, with stops for photos and a thermos. Most groups cover four to six miles in a day.

Wear layers you can take off, and bring a spare pair of dry socks for the drive home.
