The Columbia Gorge in a day

The historic highway has more waterfalls per mile than anywhere else in the country, and most of them need no hiking at all. We stop at the ones with a view and skip the ones with a queue.

Lunch is at a farm stand where the pears come from the trees you can see from the table.

If you only have one day out of Portland, this is the one.
